Fee : Pictures of Nijinsky

I searched "Nijinsky" and got these pictures...

Fee : Nijinsky creative brainstorming

influenced by Nijinski cahiers le sentiment(尼金斯基筆記)

Brief idea:

3 male performers

The 3 male performers will all be Nijinsky, as split self, as triple image of self, as multi-dimension of oneself. 是分裂的自己,是重疊的自己,也是不同維度展現出來的自己。

Actions : eating, writing (diary/notes), changing clothes and dancing (in Nijinsky’s Notes, he always talks about these daily life actions…)

(tbc, suggestion) 1 female performer, as an outsider, maybe sometime is Nijinsky’s wife, or prostitute he met

Reference:

European House (Hamlet’s Prologue Without Words)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfkQxwGqjRE

A performance Kayuen and Fee watched in Taipei Arts Festival. The whole piece consists only very little spoken languages, (you may see also this review online : http://theatrenotes.blogspot.com/2007/10/review-european-house.html ) instead, there are only people’s movement(quite naturalistic in their physical style, but the whole thing is not naturalistic)in the house. This performance is really stunning, Shakespeare’s Hamlet is full of words, but this Prologue is without words… yet, it’s more powerful than one with words to me.

Just some other notes for sharing:

導演創作室時樹榮跟樹寧有趣的交換創作:「今次的特別之處,在於對「欲望」這個題材,我們只有「輕描淡寫」的討論(兩次不超過三十分鐘的討論),整個創作過程都是以演員作為對話渠道。每次排戲我和樹榮都不會同場,我排好一部分,樹榮看了再加以他的想法發展;樹榮跟演員作了一些練習,我就以這些練習去發展新的片段。」

Some questions should be asked and answered by the creative cores…

  • What hits you in the book Nijinski cahiers le sentiment?
  • What keywords will you draw out after reading the book?

Fee’s notes

Keywords : madness, inner self, abnormality

Key scenes : eating, writing, encounter with his wife, prostitutes and guests, dancing, changing clothes

I love people… I love life…I am God

Inventions with imaginary history

Kayuen’s notes

Reading and creating a piece from this book is a process of refabricating a history… and this book is actually a diary, a personal account of history...

Creative methods/ strategies

1) the cores pick few pages/ paragraphs which hits us most for the performers to share discussions on the selected texts

3) 1 performer read out the text, other based on the text, improvise

4) Bring some clothes back to try out the clothes-changing part

5) Sudden changes: performers can choose to switch between eating, dancing, writing, changing clothes; when the director clap, there must be a sudden change
